An Interrupted Aortic Arch (IAA) is a rare heart condition that happens when the aorta doesn’t form up properly. The aorta is the heart’s main pipeline that carries oxygen-rich blood to the body and is shaped like an arch or curve. In IAA, a part of the aorta is missing that leaves a gap. The IAA treatment includes the administration of a prostaglandin infusion which is a medication administered intravenously (IV) and keeps the ductus arteriosus open.
