Robotic Radical Nephrectomy is a surgical procedure for removing the damaged kidney or transfer a healthy kidney from a donor. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia and takes around 3-4 hours to complete. During the procedure, the specialist makes incisions from a remote control console for inserting a telescopic lens for getting a magnified 3D view inside and robotic tools for removing the kidney. An experienced nephrologist with expertise in performing robotic surgical procedures should be preferred. The success rate for the treatment remains around 85-90%. The procedure results in less pain, blood loss, and scarring and therefore, also has a faster healing time.
