A Laryngeal Web is a rare condition that affects children’s larynx creating a layer of web-like tissue. The tissue partially constricts or narrows the windpipe causing breathing difficulty. During the Laryngeal Web Excision, the surgeon may dilate the trachea and use a laser to cut the web. In severe cases, the surgeon may also opt for an open surgery to broaden the airway. An experienced ENT surgeon should be preferred for Laryngeal Web Excision. The life-expectancy after Laryngeal Web Excision is normal with a minor complication of a rough or hoarse voice. If the dilation is performed, the patient will have to spend 1-2 nights in the hospital until the breathing graph is normal. In the case of an open surgery, at least 2 weeks of hospital stay is required.
