Radiofrequency ablation, also called fulguration, is a medical procedure in which a part of the electrical conduction system of the heart, tumour or other dysfunctional tissue is ablated through the heat generated from medium-frequency alternating current. The procedure uses heat generated by radio waves for targeting specific nerves and temporarily turning off their ability to send pain signals and the needles are inserted through the skin near the painful area to deliver the radio waves to the targeted nerves. The right specialist to consult for a Radiofrequency Ablation is an experienced Radiologist along with a Cardiologist and Neurologist. The success rate for the treatment remains around 71-80%.
An advanced procedure for eliminating unwanted tissues or tumours from the heart without any surgery.
