A Coronary Angiogram is a medical procedure that uses a special dye and X-ray imaging to see how blood flows through the arteries in your heart.
The test helps your doctor find out if there’s a restriction in blood flow going to the heart. These Angiograms are part of a broad group of procedures known as cardiac catheterizations.
As with most procedures carried out on your heart and blood vessels, a coronary angiogram has some risks, including radiation exposure from the X-rays used. However, major complications are rare.
Having an angiogram takes around one hour, although it may be longer if combined with other cardiac catheterization procedures. The procedure has a success rate between 96 to 97 per cent.
The cost of a Coronary Angiogram in India starts from around USD 173.
