Liver cancer is cancer that begins in the liver cells. The liver is a football-sized organ (the largest) that sits in the upper right portion of the abdomen, beneath the diaphragm and above the stomach. There are six basic types of Liver Cancer. The prevention of cirrhosis can prevent the development of liver cancer. Routine surveillance for liver cancer by performing an ultrasound of the liver in patients having cirrhosis will detect liver cancer at early stages.
