Tarsorrhaphy is a procedure for joining a part or all the upper and lower eyelids so as to partially or completely close the eye. A permanent tarsorrhaphy only closes the lateral (outer) eyelids, so the patients can still see through the central opening and examine the eye at the same time. Lateral tarsorrhaphy attempts to offset the upper lid retraction with the lower lid laxity. It involves suturing the free outer edge of the upper and lower eyelids together. After the division of the eyelid anterior to the grey line, the mucocutaneous border of the lid margin is excised. The right specialist to consult for a Lateral Tarsoraphy Local Single Eye is an Ophthalmologist. The success rate for the treatment remain around 60-71%.
